Indication
Mainly used for acute severe allergic reaction, which can reduce allergic reaction caused by blood transfusion or plasma; Nausea and vomiting caused by postoperative drugs; Parkinson’s disease and extrapyramidal symptoms; Dental local anesthesia, when patients are highly allergic to commonly used local anesthetics, 1% diphenhydramine solution can be used as a local anesthetic for dentistry; Other allergic diseases, not suitable for oral administration.

Adverse effect
- (1) Common ones are: central nervous system inhibition, ataxia, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc.
- (2) Rare are: shortness of breath, chest tightness, cough, dystonia, etc. It has been reported that clenching of teeth with laryngeal spasm may occur after administration.
- (3) Occasionally, it can cause rash, granulocytopenia, anemia and arrhythmia.
Taboo
Myasthenia gravis, angle-closure glaucoma and prostatic hypertrophy are prohibited. People who are allergic to this product and excipients are prohibited. Newborns and premature babies are prohibited. This product contains benzyl alcohol, and it is forbidden to be used for intramuscular injection in children.
Matters need attention
- (1) This product is not suitable for patients with pyloric duodenal obstruction, pyloric stenosis caused by peptic ulcer, bladder neck stenosis, hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and lower respiratory tract infection (including asthma).
- (2) People who are highly allergic to other ethanolamines may also be allergic to this product.
- (3) Avoid driving vehicles, working at height or operating machines after applying this medicine.
- (4) In case of renal failure, the interval of drug administration should be prolonged.

Interaction
- (1) This product can temporarily affect the absorption of barbiturates and sodium sulfacetamide, etc.
- (2) It can reduce the blood drug concentration of sodium p-aminosalicylate.
- (3) It can enhance the action of central nervous system depressants.
Pharmacology
- It is a derivative of ethanolamine. Its antihistamine effect is not as good as promethazine, and its duration is short. Its sedative effect is the same as that of the two drugs, and it has local anesthesia, emesis and anti-M-choline-like effects.

Overdose
Overdose with infants and children can cause excitement, hallucinations, convulsions and even death; Adult overdose can cause fever, tremor, dyspnea and hypotension. Be sure to keep the patient quiet during rescue, especially for children. When necessary, diazepam can be injected intravenously to control convulsions. When hypotension occurs, vasoconstrictors can be used. Other treatments include oxygen supply and intravenous infusion.
